Mark Your Card. Premier League betting tips cards markets

After disappointment last week – David Coote fell one card short of earning us a profit in Fulham v Burnley – focus is back on the ‘to be carded’ market this week with some juicy prices.

Bournemouth’s Jefferson Lerma and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold also made the original selections but their 13/5 and 9/2 respective prices disappeared on Friday.

Matchday 4 – Sep 1-2

Christopher Schindler – Everton v Huddersfield (Sat, 1500) – 9/2 (Sky Bet)

The left-sided centre-back has been booked in two of his three games so far this season and looks set to be in for a busy day at Goodison. Theo Walcott’s pace has been causing plenty of problems down Everton’s right, while the hosts will also have raiding full-back Seamus Coleman overlapping. There’s also Gylfi Sigurdsson drifting in front of the visiting defence. Schindler looks a big price at 9/2 to receive a card.

Referee: Stuart Attwell – showed a Premier League-high eight cards in his only game so far this season, the first coming out after only 18 minutes. Averaged an above average 3.6 yellows per game last season, so no worries on the ref front here.

Leigh Griffiths – Celtic v Rangers (Sun, 1200) – 13/2 (Unibet, 888Sport)

OK, I know this isn’t a Premier League game but this bet simply had to be flagged up as 13/2 is a crazy price about renowned hot-head Griffiths picking up a card in Sunday’s Old Firm derby. Of course, it is the first cross-Glasgow battle between these sides since Steve Gerrard arrived at Ibrox and the strong start Rangers have made under their new boss has raised hopes that they can actually challenge Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic this season. That should add spice to what is already a powderkeg fixture. Griffiths has been booked in two of his five Old Firm starts, and has another card from a substitute appearance in the contest. He also has two cards in eight games so far this season. He shouldn’t be 13/2.

Referee: Willie Collum – was quick to flash a red card last week when sending off Kilmarnock’s Gary Dicker, a decision which sparked controversy. Showed six yellows and one red in his last Old Firm game back in March. The season before he showed seven yellows and one red in a league game and five yellows in a cup contest between the Glasgow giants. Those are good stats for those betting on cards in this one.
